About Big Smoke Giant Maine Coons

At Big Smoke Giant Maine Coons, our mission is simple: to raise beautiful, healthy, and confident Maine Coon cats that become cherished lifelong companions. What began as a deep admiration for this remarkable breed quickly grew into a passion for responsible, ethical breeding—guided by care, integrity, and a genuine love for Maine Coons.

We are a small, home-based breeder located in the United States, dedicated to producing healthy, well-socialized, and affectionate Maine Coon kittens. Our goal is to ensure every kitten grows into a loving, loyal, and well-adjusted family member.

Our Commitment to Quality

We believe every Maine Coon deserves a loving forever home and is placed as a cherished family companion. Our breeding program is built on carefully selected foundation cats from exceptional bloodlines. Many of our cats descend from International Champion show lines and are registered with respected organizations such as CFA and/or TICA.

When developing our breeding program, we focused on sourcing healthy, high-quality Maine Coon bloodlines with strong pedigrees, excellent temperament, and sound genetic health. Our commitment to excellence begins with selecting breeding cats that meet the highest standards for health, structure, and breed type.

Health Comes First

The health and well-being of our cats is our top priority. Maine Coons can be affected by certain hereditary conditions, which is why we take proactive steps to ensure the healthiest possible future for our kittens.

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)

HCM is one of the most common inherited heart conditions found in Maine Coons. To help reduce the risk of passing on this condition, all of our foundation breeding cats undergo genetic testing through reputable laboratories and are clear of known HCM genetic markers.

Hip Dysplasia Screening

Hip dysplasia can also occur in Maine Coons and may have a hereditary component. Our breeding cats are carefully evaluated and screened to ensure they meet our standards for healthy hip structure before being included in our breeding program.

Routine Health Testing

We conduct annual testing for:
FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus)
FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus)
Although we maintain a closed cattery, regular testing helps ensure the ongoing health and safety of our cats and kittens.
